We are Together Culture: Meet Niketa

Member since February 2024

Together Culture is growing a community of outrageously curious, open-minded and creative members who care for each other and want to build a more inclusive and ecological Cambridge. Today we’re introducing you to Niketa, a recent Engineering graduate looking to embark on her next adventure.

Why did you become a member?

After attending the introduction session I felt like this place could enable me to tap into my creative energies and lead to self discovery. I am pleased to say every event I have attended here has left me being more curious and wanting to come back.

Another aspect I really like is the focus on connecting with other individuals and understanding where they come from.

What (if anything) has exceeded your expectations about Together Culture?

The proactivity and openness of the community. When I joined initially I didn't expect there to be so many different kinds of events and so often.

Meeting people here is also motivating me to be more balanced. Working in a computer engineering field which requires a mix of logic and creative thinking, it is easy to get caught up in the results driven culture but here I'm learning to enjoy the process of creation and apply it in all areas of my life.

How has being a member of Together Culture impacted your wellbeing, if at all?

Being new to Cambridge it was difficult to meet people so I've really enjoyed having a central point in the city to meet and connect.

What would you tell someone who is interested in joining Together Culture?

I feel it's a brilliant community to explore yourself, tap into your potential and collaborate with others. One of my favourite series was the Wellbeing for Changemakers. These workshops changed my outlook on growth and creativity. For the first time I realised we have a choice to live in autopilot mode or create what doesn't exist yet. This learning inspired me to connect with my inner creator and has been a wonderful way to really start living and feeling alive!

What is your work / passion and how do you hope to use that at Together Culture?

My values include being connected and curious and hope to design an interactive workshop revolving around these. One of the ideas I am very passionate about is "Connecting beyond Culture". I am of Indian origin and I love my culture, ethnicity and connecting with those sharing the same culture. However I am also aware at times, culture can hold us back from exploring the unknown and sticking with what is familiar and comfortable. Through personal experiences I have connected with diverse individuals and found those experiences have broadened my own mind, improved my ability to communicate and be empathetic to another's experience.

How do you hope the Together Culture membership can change Cambridge?

I hope Together Culture can be this centrally located spot in Cambridge that continues to be a place to create, connect and develop new ideas. I also hope people take back the values promoted there into their own lives as very few places promote active listening and being curious.

Community Membership is £18.50 a month; become a member here. Email ellie@togetherculture.com to find out about Pay What You Can membership.
