We are Together Culture: Meet Francesco

Member since April 2023

Together Culture is growing a community of outrageously curious, open-minded and creative members who care for each other and want to build a more inclusive and ecological Cambridge. Today we’re introducing you to Francesco, an artist.

Why did you become a member?

I can proudly say I was one of the first members who joined Together Culture. The motivation was pretty simple: where can you find such a great community with people who share similar values and the same love for the city where they live? Where can you find a place able to give the right space to artists, workers and a polyfunctional centre for literally anyone? I think only in Together Culture.

What (if anything) has exceeded your expectations about Together Culture?

The events. I couldn't imagine how many interesting events could take place there, and it is just amazing to see how the community is positively responding to it.

How has being a member of Together Culture impacted your wellbeing, if at all?

When I joined Together Culture there wasn't even a building ready, and from the very beginning contributing to make it happen made me feel like I was part of something good. I’m giving back to the community that has given me so much in just a few years. And as a member of the Creative Workspace I can finally let my creativity free in a proper studio.

I’ve met amazing people, friends, which is a pleasure to have close by. As full time worker not living in Cambridge I just wish I could be more present physically at Together Culture, because the time spent there it is proper quality time.

What would you tell someone who is interested in joining Together Culture?

Join, because you are missing out on big, positive times here. Grab a book or your laptop and come and have a coffee. Take a look at the space, at all the art that our local artists are creating there, at all the good ideas that are coming out of the Citizen Studio that will improve our city, your city.

Come and get a pilot seat in the biggest gentle force that will reshape Cambridge.

What is your work / passion and how do you hope to use that at Together Culture?

I am a software engineer who loves to paint. When I am at Together Culture, I take advantage of the spaces to study and read, and of course to give a couple of brushes to a canvas!

How do you hope the Together Culture membership can change Cambridge?

Too many people have a whole world inside and struggle to let it out because they don't have the right place and support. Being member of Together Culture can really help those people, as it has helped me. A person who finally acknowledges himself or herself is an happier person. Happiness is contagious, and a single person can spread it to others. Imagine how much each member of Together Culture can impact society, and how much Together Culture can make the difference for our city.

Community Membership is £18.50 a month; become a member here. Email ellie@togetherculture.com to find out about Pay What You Can membership.
