We are Together Culture: Meet Caroline
Member since January 2024
Together Culture is growing a community of outrageously curious, open-minded and creative members who care for each other and want to build a more inclusive and ecological Cambridge. Today we’re introducing you to Caroline, the Founder and Creative Director of Amayi Rose.
Why did you become a member?
I was walking to city centre and the writing on the window drew my attention. Out of curiosity I walked in, and was sold before I even spoke to anyone - red is my favourite colour!
Meeting and talking to Ellie the Community Director confirmed that I had found the the right place at the right time. I had just completed 2 years of online courses so I was elated to get access to affordable workspace that would give me visibility and facilitate the launch my fashion brand!
What (if anything) has exceeded your expectations about Together Culture?
The enthusiasm, encouragement and support from everyone has helped me to focus, be accountable and build momentum in my business. The Co-Retail space has been a game changer! Showcasing my designs gives me a great sense of pride, achievement and belonging. I am at home.
How has being a member of Together Culture impacted your wellbeing, if at all?
Being in a creative environment among like-minded and genuinely supportive people is helping keep me motivated and steadily progressing towards my goals. I will launch my fashion brand in September. I visited a friend and told her about the imminent launch date. She lectured me on the complexity of the task, saying I seemed too calm when I should be panicking! That is the impact of knowing that I have the support of the Together Culture community. I have all the confidence that it will be well.
What would you tell someone who is interested in joining Together Culture?
It is a no brainer; I tell everyone that Together Culture is the place to be.
What is your work / passion and how do you hope to use that at Together Culture?
I am the Founder and Creative Director at Amayi Rose. A game-changing, first-of-its-kind-in-Cambridge, hybrid fashion brand. We create unique styles using a mix of African and plain cotton, satin and other fabrics. I am part of the Co-Retail Market at Together Culture and hope to co-design with members, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and ecological economy in Cambridge. I look forward to sharing and learning more skills.
How do you hope the Together Culture membership can change Cambridge?
Through a strong community spirit with each individual and a collective using our passions to contribute to the area and local economy.
Community Membership is £18.50 a month; become a member here. Email ellie@togetherculture.com to find out about Pay What You Can membership.
