Meet Our Members: Bisha Mistry

Together Culture is growing a community of outrageously curious, open-minded and creative members who care for each other and want to build a more inclusive and ecological Cambridge. Today, we’re introducing you to Bisha, an artist and art psychotherapist at Mind Your Self.

Why did you become a member of Together Culture?

I joined because I wanted to be part of a creative, welcoming, and forward-thinking group that imagines a better future than what we have now.

Tell us a bit about what you do!

I'm an artist and an art therapist. Being an artist is my natural state. I believe everything I do is a form of creativity. I love expressing myself freely through art, using it to bring the subtle experiences of being human into focus.

What are you working on this week at Together Culture Fitzroy?

This week, I'm exploring the relationship between spirituality and artistic expression. I'm thinking about the way we approach and engage with creativity to create a sense of meaning. I'm also asking, how do we use imagination and how can we be more intentional about creating space for it? In a world that can sometimes make us feel powerless, how does artistic expression help us take our power back?

Can you tell us some of your favourite things about Together Culture Fitzroy?

There's so much I appreciate about Together Culture. It feels like a creative incubator; a holding, containing space. For me, the red walls are symbolic of life. The dynamic atmosphere creates a sense of excitement, because something is always emerging in the space. A new idea, a new project, a new cause, a new connection. For me the place is representative of life, with all of its challenges, risks, and struggles.

It's a new and promising environment. We're intentionally reshaping our surroundings and collaborating to create a better place to thrive. Being part of this process gives us hope.

We focus on meaningful interactions. This is a big deal because in our daily lives, we often overlook the impact of our exchanges. Consciously thinking about our interactions helps us work together and appreciate our differences.

We have the chance to reflect more. Everything at Together culture encourages deep thinking and feeling. We're always encouraged to look within ourselves and connect with others, forming meaningful relationships.

Every person here brings new perspectives and challenges you to grow. It's like looking in a mirror and being inspired to change.

The energy here is nurturing. It's driven by a feminine touch that helps the space grow naturally. The team is welcoming and strives to create an ideal environment for everyone.

We talk a lot about uncovering your creative superpower at Together Culture. What’s yours?

My creative superpower is embracing mistakes as part of the process.

What’s your hope for Cambridge?

I hope to see a city where people grow independently. We'd have a community where we exchange skills rather than just money. People would understand their self-worth and support each other through caring interactions with our environment. This would lead to less inequality and less reliance on authoritarian narratives.

Whether you’re a dentist or data scientist, an entrepreneur or artist, we all need to use our creative collaborative skills to be part of shaping a more inclusive, vibrant Cambridge.

Together Culture Membership starts at £18.50 a month. Join us!
